Ho realizzato il mio lavoro di sound design con l’intento di offrire al film una mia personale concezione scenografica che potesse descrivere, in modo differente dall’originale, le scene, le atmosfere e, in generale, il pathos; io credo che ciò sia possibile anche attraverso solo l’uso del “suono”.

Tutti i campionamenti derivano da oggetti comuni che si possono facilmente trovare in uno studio o in casa:
per esempio,
l’esplosione, nella quarta scena, deriva dal processing di un pezzo di carta;
le piattaforme rotanti derivano dallo scricchiolio della mia sedia;
tutti i venti e alcune atmosfere ambientali derivano dal deumidificatore del mio studio.

Nel mio sito web, nella sezione inglese “sound design” (a breve anche in quella italiana), ho inserito un nuovo lavoro dal titolo “Ipazia, Città Invisibile”, dove in questo caso è solo il suono, assieme ad un testo in prosa, a narrare la storia; essa racconta l’avventura surreale di un viaggiatore diretto verso l’ambigua e lontana città, Ipazia.

ENG. Daniele Carli, sound designer: “Elephants Dream, new sound design”

I worked on this movie with the intent to give to the film my personal scenographic conception that can describe, in a different way from the original, the scenes, the atmosphere and, in general, the pathos; I believe that it is also possible only using the “sound”.

All the samplings derive from objects that it can be found in a studio or in a house:
for example
the explosion in the fourth scene comes from the processing of a bit of paper;
the rotating platforms come out from my chair creak;
all the winds and some ambient atmospheres come from my studio’s dehumifier.

In my website, for me moment only in the english sound design section, there is a new video called “Ipazia, Invisible City” where only the sound, with a text, describe all the story based on the surreal adventure of a yourneyman directs to the ambiguous and faraway city, Ipazia.
